Strain Diary is independently built and maintained by one person. Diary entries and strain information are stored through Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services. Your information is not sold or rented, and the app does not use advertising networks or third-party tracking SDKs.
Diary and strain data
Your logs may include strain and product names, ratings, reviews, notes, effects, photos, session information, cannabinoid information, terpene data and other details you choose to save. CloudKit stores this information with your Apple Account and syncs it across your supported Apple devices.
Your diary entries are not visible to other users by default. However, Strain Diary’s owner and authorized moderators can view strain-related information associated with users’ accounts when necessary for moderation, support, safety, troubleshooting or operation of the service. This may include strain names, product information, ratings, notes, effects, photos and other details included with a strain log.
Account information
You do not need a separate Strain Diary account to use the private diary. If you create an account for social, chat or other account-based features, Strain Diary may process your email address, username, account identifier, profile information and sign-in records. This information is used to create and secure your account, provide account features, prevent abuse and help with support requests.
Community and shared strain data
If you contribute information to the community database, details such as a strain name, brand, crosses, terpenes and other product information may be stored in a shared database so they can help with search and autofill. Your personal review, rating and notes may also be visible to authorized moderators when necessary to operate and moderate the service.
Social features and chat
When you use community or chat features, the app may process usernames, profile information, profile photos, posts, comments, replies, message content, reactions, shared strain cards and photos you choose to send. This information is used to display posts, deliver messages, support conversations and operate the social features you requested.
Content only becomes publicly visible when you choose to share it publicly. Messages and other shared content may be visible to their intended recipients and to Strain Diary’s owner or authorized moderators when necessary for moderation, support, safety, troubleshooting or operation of the service.
Photos and camera access
Camera and photo access are used only when you choose to scan a label, attach a product photo, set a profile image or send a photo through a supported feature. The app does not browse or upload unrelated photos.
Connected devices
If you pair Strain Diary with a compatible device, that connection happens locally between your phone and the hardware. It is used to provide the device feature you requested and is not used to build an advertising profile.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, Strain Diary and Apple’s notification services may process a device token and your notification preferences. This information is used only to deliver notifications you request, such as messages, replies, reminders or important service updates. You can disable notifications in the app or through your device settings.
Analytics and diagnostics
Strain Diary does not include third-party analytics SDKs that track your activity across apps. If you enable Share iPhone Analytics in iOS, Apple may provide anonymous or aggregate crash, performance and diagnostic information. This does not include the contents of your private strain journal.
When you contact me
If you contact Strain Diary or send TestFlight feedback, I receive whatever you choose to include. Apple may also attach technical details such as your device model, operating system version or crash information. This is used to respond, troubleshoot and improve the app—not to add you to a marketing list.
If you use the feedback form on straindiary.com, your name, email address, selected topic and message are submitted through FormSubmit and delivered to Strain Diary’s support email. FormSubmit processes that information to transmit your message. Do not include sensitive information that is not needed for your request.
Data sharing
Strain Diary does not sell or rent personal information. Information may be processed by service providers needed to operate the app, such as Apple’s CloudKit infrastructure. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service or the public.
Data retention and deletion
You can edit or delete personal diary entries inside Strain Diary, and those changes can sync through iCloud. Account information and shared content are kept for as long as your account is active or as reasonably necessary to provide the service, resolve support requests, enforce rules, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
You may request deletion of your account or shared information by contacting support@straindiary.com. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, safety records or records required by law. Content already delivered to another user, such as a chat message, may also remain in that user’s copy of the conversation.
Who can see your information
Private diary entries are not shown to other users by default. Public posts are visible to anyone who can access the applicable community area. Direct messages are visible to their participants. Strain-related account information, community content, messages and shared content can also be accessed by Strain Diary’s owner or authorized moderators for moderation, support, safety, troubleshooting and service operation.
Security
Strain Diary uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including the protections provided by Apple’s platforms and CloudKit. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Adults only and children’s privacy
Strain Diary is intended only for adults of legal cannabis age. It is not directed to children, does not knowingly allow minors to use adult features and does not provide medical advice. If you believe a minor used Strain Diary in a way that involved personal information, please contact support.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change as features are added or updated. The date at the top will be updated when material changes are made.
